But just how many do I really need?
Over time the number of Romanian G kits I've acquired - all but one through various trades - has steadily increased. I keep telling myself that "once it arrives I'll list it on auction and sell, sell, sell," but that isn't happening.
Instead, I get it and I see it and say, "oh no dude, that one's just too nice. You gotta' get ya' an NDS-1 receiver and build that puppy." But geez, man, they're always "too nice" - how many AKs does an individual really need? And when I ask that question the H7 devil sitting on my left shoulder says, "Hey look! These can't be imported anymore. Never sell! Keep them all!" But one guy and a growing stack of Romanian AKs? Does this sound wise to you? What to do? |

I have three AK's myself. I'm probably done in that department but only because the gun money is going to other types!
Asking "how many guns do I need?" is like asking "how many times do I _need_ to have sex?" You have sex, you have a kid, you did your "job" in this life. So why do you keep wanting to do what is "unnecessary?" Same reason you keep buying guns: because it's fun!!! Gregg |

You need one good one that you know how to use and quality support gear. After that you need one more to arm a friend or replace a broken rifle. Beyond that you're in the territory of having "spare spares" and somewhere past that your guns start owning you instead of you owning them.

One indication is when you spend more time, money and effort buying guns than working on your shooting skills. Another would be when you have so many you worry about them excessively when you leave the house or go on vacation.
There's nothing wrong with owning a bunch of guns as long as you own a good safe too but to my way of thinking the problems arise when you forget that fundamentally guns are for shooting, not collecting. It's far better to have one rifle and one pistol with the proper support gear and training that you really know how to use than to just have a whole bunch of guns that don't get shot very often. People who are into survival often hoard guns but that's kind of unnecessary in a country where there's at least one gun for every man, woman and child. The top priority is proficiency. If your gun collection gets to the point that it is starting to cause you stress and/or financial woes it's definitely time to do a little cleaning up in your safe. Kits can be a good investment and they can be traded with more freedom than fully assembled firearms but again some investments drag on you more than they're worth. Only you can say when you've reached that point but if you're asking this question it does sound like it might be time to reduce your burden a little. Your personal armory should be practical and fun. If it ceases to be so make adjustments till things are back in harmony. |

I sold four AR's and then got three AK's with 2,000 rounds of ammo.
